Thanks to the many people who've inquired anxiously as to our situation, and forgive us for not answering sooner. A variety of issues have prevented us from moving forward.

One of the most important is, Zefiris is no longer interested in continuing with Choir! beyond the next three chapters (which, as I've hinted before, contain some truly excellent yuri). After that point, there is an upswing in the amount of fanservice/nudity - particularly of pseudo-lolis Mayuko and Shirayuki - that she finds both unpalatable and an unacceptable personal risk. Zefiris lives in Germany, and Germany takes an extremely dim legal view of trafficking in what they might consider pornographic depictions of underage characters. She does not wish to be prosecuted for this, and I certainly can't blame her.

As for me, let's just say I've been having technology issues. Both my car and my computer have been consuming my attention for the past several months. It's rather amazing how enslaved we are to the upkeep of the technologies that are supposed to make our lives more convenient. It is only just now that these issues appear to be finally resolved.

In any case, the plan is to release the next three chapters of Choir! as our last of that title, and then focus on Kimi no Tame for the foreseeable future. I can't say just when our next release will be, but we are and will be working toward it as time and circumstances allow. Thanks for your patience.

Kimi no Tame Nara Shineru, chapters 0-5

Here it is, finally. Sorry for the long wait.

This turned out to be a really wonderful thing to begin working on. I hope you'll enjoy reading it as much as I am myself.

As mentioned, this manga bears an extremely tenuous connection to the life of the historical Sei Shonagon, who served then-Empress Teishi. As such, there are a few things to clarify:

1. Teishi is referred to as a "princess", but although she is of the powerful Fujiwara house, she herself is not of royal blood. At the time, any daughter of a high noble house could be referred to as a "hime", and although we translate that as "princess", the meaning is not the same.

2. As you hopefully read in Shonagon's wikipedia entry, in the Heian Era it was customary for court ladies to be referred to by pseudonyms. This is also the case for Murasaki and Kou, both of whom have the title of "shikibu". Hopefully this will clear up any confusion about both of them being called such.

Well, I could go on, but it would be too easy to get bogged down in explanations. There's no real need anyway - at bottom this is a fun and fluffy work that is far from sweating the historical details. We should take the same attitude.

Upcoming New Project: Kimi no Tame Nara Shineru

We are pleased to announce that we are taking on a new project, Kimi no Tame Nara Shineru (For Your Sake, I Would Die).

This is a charming work very, very, VERY loosely based on the life of Heian-era author and poet Sei Shonagon. The 27 year-old Shonagon, depicted here as a sort of medieval NEET, manages to land a job as the private tutor of the beautiful and refined teenage princess, Teishi. (Yes, age-gap romance!) There are also a number of other quirky court ladies, some of whom have their own eye on Shonagon...

Zefiris really liked this one, and I'm quite taken with it as well. Please look forward to the first chapters soon! (And don't worry, we won't be neglecting Choir. We intend to alternate releases.)

Choir 22, 23, 24, & 25 - The "Love Love Ski Trip" Arc

Here it is, finally. So sorry about the long long wait. As its name implies, this arc is concerned with skiing and yuri romance, not at all in that order. We hope you will enjoy.

A few notes:

On page 3 of chapter 22, "Our Little Con Artist", Mawata is making a strange joke that we couldn't quite figure out. Whether this is supposed to be referencing some obscure character, or is simply a typically Japanese dig at the "sneaky Chinese" stereotype, we just don't know.

Also, for reasons which will become obvious, Kakin Ondo is now the official theme song of Choir.

Anyway, we hope to do better from now on. Chapters 26-28 could be called the "Mayuko/Shousei Sleepover" arc, and are every bit as rewarding as that description makes them sound. In fact, those three chapters are the main reason we even began doing Choir. The rough scripts are already done, so expect them before too long. Thanks again for your patience.

We've been quiet for a while, and many of you have been wondering as to the situation.

In a word, Zefiris will be unable to devote time to this project until after the end of this year.

I apologize, both for this hiatus and for the delay in announcing it. I won't conceal that it's been a matter of contention between Zefiris and myself. (Though I must add that "contention" is essentially the normal state of our friendship, and has been for its many years.)

However, one fact not in contention is that as both translator and primary editor, this project has always been 85% Zefiris' efforts, so both you and I will simply have to await her pleasure.

Until that time, and our next release, happy holidays.

Choir, 19, 20, & 21

As it turns out, the cast of Choir hail from very diverse regional backgrounds, as we learn in great detail in chapter 20...

Also of note, Chapter 21 involves mahjong, which has become almost the official tabletop game of yuri, thanks to a certain other well-known series. I'm grateful to my friend Claire for having pushed me into learning to play. In addition to being enjoyable in its own right, knowing the game greatly simplified the translation of this chapter.

Although we did our best to provide helpful explanatory notes, we offer our apologies if non-players still find themselves confused; the chapter assumes at least a basic knowledge of the game.

As to the aforementioned yuri, it increases dramatically within the next seven chapters, so please look forward to it. We'll be doing our best to bring them to you soon.

Upcoming project: Oniyuri-san and Himeyuri-san

We are pleased to announce an uncoming new project: Oniyuri-san and Himeyuri-san, a webmanga described as a "high-tension yuri x yuri love comedy".

On campus, student council secretary Oniyuri Itsuki and student council president Himeyuri Shizuku are popular total opposites. While their respective fans are divided into factions, their actual relationship is....!!

At the moment there is just one chapter, and we don't actually know if this is just a one-shot or if it will be continued - it is titled as oneshot, but who knows. Obviously we hope the latter, but in any case, please look forward to it.

Amnesian

We're putting Amnesian on indefinite hold. This is not because it isn't yuri - it will be, we all know this. The newest chapter even has some rather suggestive sexually themed scenes. No: It's just that this is not the kind of manga I like, which is getting more and more apparent. I just dislike it.

I liked chapter 1, and I wanted to like this manga. We, Cryssoberyl and I, managed it through the horrible second chapter, past the annoying third, and even beyond the seventh. But it's enough. We're throwing the towel. I hope someone better than us picks it up - someone who really likes the Manga, can get it done quicker, with better editing, and better translations (that's the other issue I had with it: Kaishaku is so...vague! Translating obscure otaku references is far easier than Kaishaku).

We'll be better off focusing on Choir or something like that.

I'd like to apologize to those waiting for the manga (all five of you!) and to Audio Erotica specifically, who was so kind to take over scanning for us. Especially she deserves the apology, for she scanned the last chapter, which we were not even able to finish. I am sorry for this.

Maybe you'll appreciate the other things we will do. Maybe not. Either way, Amnesian is on hold, so don't expect any future chapter from us.

Choir, Chapters 15, 16, 17, and 18

We are pleased to bring you chapters 15-18 of Choir.

One thing I enjoy about Choir, and that (to me) sets it apart from being just another "moe" manga, is that the characters are all extremely genre-savvy. They may not know they're manga characters, but they are certainly aware of the clichés that come with living in one.

Chapter 16 is a positive example of this: several of the old negative stereotypes about yuri relationships are directly pointed out, just so that they can be dismissed - both by words directly after, and by action and emotion in many subsequent chapters.

However, Mayuko and Shousei aren't the only ones for whom feelings are strengthening. A new pairing is beginning to emerge as well, though stormy weather is visible in the distance...

Zettai Shoujo Seiiki Amnesian Chapter 7

Here we are again, with another Chapter of Amnesian.

There is no particular need for translation notes this time - except the box on the 'title' page, which is really not about anything anyone will care about. Unless you can fly to Japan and plan to poke Kaishaku :P

As for the contents, you probably know what to expect by now. School hijinks, Chikane trying to be seductive, and random trouble, this time resembling Ranma tropes quite a bit. Kaishaku really seem to like old mangas.

Regardless, I hope you can enjoy it. I actually did, in parts, which makes a nice change. It's pretty good this time, actually. ^_^

Zettai Shoujo Seiiki Amnesian Chapter 6

Well, it has been a while since the last release. We were, alas, somewhat busy. And swamped. And ill.

Still, here you have it, the sixth Chapter of Amnesian. Thanks to Audio Erotica, who provided the scans this time <3
By now you can probably guess the contents. Some plot, some yuri, and the usual annoying Kaishaku trolling, this time involving some scenes we all remember from Kannazuki no Miko's earier episodes.

A small translation note: The "Satori" bits are completely unclear to me. A Satori is a kind of mythological creature if written that way (they're uncommon but sometimes appear in games and manga, and usually have three eyes). I put it as refering to the item in question. Could also be about consulting a Satori about it. I wouldn't know, and I certainly can only guess. Chances are it's probably they're really going to consult a "Satori" that, naturally, hasn't been shown or mentioned so far. It's Kaishaku's writing, after all. Sometimes, even guessing won't do :D
[At times like this, I wish I was doing Yuri Hime mangas. Those are at least clear and don't throw around stuff like this all the damn time!]

And yeah, they really made a reference to Indian astrology there. And to jewish kabbalah.

Zettai Shoujo Seiiki Amnesian, Chapter 5

Time again for Amnesian, but before turning to chapter 5, we need to bring your attention to some errors that we apparently made in chapter 4 involving Shizuku's dialogue.

At the time, we took those incredibly vague statements in the most logical way we could, but in light of chapter 5, it seems our interpretations were mistaken, or at least overly specific.

So, this chapter 5 release also includes two updated pages (27-28 and 29) of chapter 4. The release files of chapter 4 will also be updated with these new pages soon. Please replace the old pages. We hope that these are more true to what was actually meant, although as always, trying to read Kaishaku's conjoined minds is a matter of dead reckoning...in other words, please blame them and not us. :P

So, chapter 5. The mystery of Shizuku is in one sense solved, although only one...it'll be interesting to see what role this character plays in the story further on.

Finally, we are trying a new, lower impact approach with regard to sound-effects. This new method, which is something of a compromise, will save us work, preserve more of the original artwork, and will hopefully allow us to bring you chapters more quickly.

I actually managed to bust my HDD somehow, and lost the internet raws, among other things. Have been trying to find them again after setting up my system again, but without much success.

I apologize.

We'll probably manage to buy (and then scan) the volumes once we manage to scrape the money together if I don't find the raws until then, so please have patience until then.

Zettai Shoujo Seiiki Amnesian, Chapter 4

And here we are again, with Amnesian Chapter 4 for your reading pleasure. It undoubtedly marks a huge improvement over chapter 3, that's for sure.

We have several new characters, including friends of Himeko, as well as various villains.

There's even a shocking revelation that actually seems to be quite a bit confusing for at least one character. Yeah, the translation really doesn't seem to be able to go another way. Make of it what you will, it interested me quite a bit - just like the dream image Himeko has of herself...take a careful look there~

Translation notes, there's some. First, the color page has an untranslated part in the upper right, cause, you know, I can't be bothered to put in the effort to edit "And it has a color page OMG" onto the COLOR PAGE. Just redundant.

Second, on page 8, there's the name of the secret underwater hideout of our villains, Ruruie. We didn't bother to translate it, due to space reasons. Ruruie means, kanji-wise, something roughly like splendor of the dragons, with ie also sounding like home, so there's an implication of "Glorious home of the Dragons". Similar dragon kanji than the one in "Dragon's Cry", those sanctuaries the villains are trying to destroy. A connection? We don't know, but since it's Kaishaku, it might very well be, hence the note.

Finally, those of you who disliked the "Black/White" levels in Chapter 1 and 2, do you like it better this way? It'd be nice to know if the editing is finally done properly, in your eyes!

Zettai Shoujo Seiiki Amnesian, Chapter 3

Ahh, Chikane...how far you've come from the bashful girl we once knew. That outfit, really? I can only wonder how Himeko might have reacted in better circumstances.

Also, two new characters appear, one of which conducts the latest in what some would claim to be a series of escalating attempts by Kaishaku to troll their yuri fanbase.

Not I, though it's an odd feeling. If I had been simply reading this, I might have been as enraeged as anyone, but having actually worked on it myself has rendered me curiously stoic. In any case, Chikane's chicanery (Chikanery!) is more than up to the task. Just keep repeating to yourself, "The only reason he's not dead is because Himeko said so!" and you should be fine. Just, uh, try not to notice where his right hand was just before offering a conciliatory shake on page 39...

Tons of new jargon this time, a fair amount of which we probably got wrong. I never truly appreciated the vagueness of the Japanese language until I started trying to turn it into English, and Kaishaku's love for non sequiturs doesn't help. Regarding the "Falcon's Eye", it was impossible to tell if Sanada was referring to herself, or a seperate person/organization/etc. She seemed to be using it in the sense of another entity, so we treated it as such.

As to Sanada's special technique, the "Kouketsu Cloth", Zefiris' research says Kouketsu is "A brocade bag containing various kinds of medicines and perfumes, tied with iris or wormwood, with five long strings of different colours hanging from it. May also refer to the cloth-dyeing technique with which these strings were colored, similar to Shibori." Look to Kaishaku for all your lessons in Japanese textiles.

Amnesian Chapter 2

And here we are, with chapter 2 of Amnesian.
A lot of things happen, as usual. We learn where - and how - Chikane prefers to sleep, see her being her teasing self, and see the two investigating whatever the villains are up to.

The villain this time is really unpleasant, so I have to add a Trigger Warning for pages 16-19 for sexual assault.

Let's hope this takes care of Kaishaku's usual problems...and let's hope you can still enjoy the chapter(especially the first 13 pages, which have some adorable content!) despite that.

A few notes. First, some of the textbubbles were horribly small. I apologize for the small text there, I just couldn't fit it otherwise. Second, on the villains. They are called Kuyou, with the kanji for nine and for weekday. We translated it as "Nine days". Let's hope Kaishaku doesn't pull something tricky. ^^
On the JPG thing some people messaged me about: I can't see any difference, and PNGs are a lot bigger as well. I scan in PSD, so no, at least no jpg->jpg conversions ;)

Finally, on page 21, there is one of the usual special attacks. We translated the kanji meaning, because it's more understandable to the average english reader: The furigana read "raizando" in katakana, which appears to be both the reading of some of the letters, as well as Katakana for "Reizend" a german word that usually means cute (in fact, the villain, while smiling nicely, could be considered reizend), but can also mean irritant. A small pun, it seems. Yay Kanji.

Choir Chapter6

And here we have a new chapter of Choir. This time involving April, and, uhm, those stupid bloomers. No idea why people like those ugly things, but I guess it's a law that 4komas have to cover this angle, too.

I suppose something might need explaining - Shiritori!
Shiritori is a word chaining game. Say, I use the word Chikane.
You then have to take the last sign of the word, in this case Ne, and reply with a word starting with Ne.
For example Neko.
I'd then have to reply with a word starting with Ko, Kowai, for example, and so on. There are a lot of variations to this game, but these are the basics. Page 4 uses Shiritori, and an explaination didn't fit as a note, so it goes here.

Zettai Shoujo Seiiki Amnesian, Chapter 1

And so begins a new tale of the famous lovers. Will the Fate they choose to struggle against smile upon them in the end?

In order to forestall any questions, I must explain that the "antagonist" of this chapter disappears abruptly and without explanation or reference after page 53. From the artwork, it could be supposed that they teleported away, but there is really no way to be sure. I blame Kaishaku for this confusion, and so should you.

Hello everyone. This is the first chapter of Choir, a comedic (and quite moe) yuri 4-panel comic. Actually, it isn't all that yuri at the moment, but becomes canonically so later on, so please bear with it.

Localizing comedy, especially of the wordplay kind so often found in anime/manga, is very difficult. Sometimes I had to make hard choices about how to phrase things, and may have occasionally departed from the spirit of the exact Japanese in order to make things work. For anyone familiar with the original who notices such things, please excuse it - and the occasionally cramped text bubbles...nicer raws would've been good, but...

Hello there, and welcome.
I'm Zefiris, and hereby start my little translation venture, together with my accomplice, Cryssoberyl.

This blog is, essentially, a mini scanlation blog. To be frank, we're probably not going to scanlate many, many different things. The main interest is scanlating 少女聖域アムネシア -"Zettai Shoujo Seiiki - Amnesian". Naturally. I'm a known Chikane/Himeko fangirl. I'm sorry for that.

Other projects that are considered are maybe Rakka Ryuusui and a oneshot here and there, and, uh, that's it. Most likely.
Or not, as we decided on another manga. Hooray Choir.

And now for the release! This is a oneshot by Stratosphere. A webdoujin, apparently ^^. It was kinda cute, without being sleezy, so...

Just read it! It's just sixteen pages, after all. Comments and criticism are, naturally, welcomed. We are newbies and such. Criticism can just help getting ready for the big thing - Himegami - or, as it appears to be called now, Amnesia!
