Battle Athletes Daiundoukai: Satellite Stage, Heat 6

Just on the border, of your waking mind, there lies another time, where darkness and light are one... And as you tread the halls of sanity, you feel so glad to be, unable...to go beyond....

I have a message from another time.

No, it's not an April Fools joke. We're back. It's been a while. Lost my job today, so the joke's on me, right?  Suddenly plenty of time to finish up this chapter, though. Through good times and bad, the show must go on.

This is the end of volume 2, which means we are now right at the midway point. I might've hoped for a slightly less ridiculous end to the volume, but it's all business from here on as the Daiundoukai - and the relationships of the characters - heat up.

Hopefully we can do the second half a little bit quicker, but how many times have I said that now? It's not like anyone's reading this blog anymore anyway, right? Hahaha.

Also, as promised, here are the complete raws for Volume 2. Keep in mind that, as these are unoptimized, the file size is quite large: Volume 2 Raws

  2. This lurker still checks in from time to time.

It's hard to maintain a substantial personal project, especially when it's something that's really important to you - and the feeling that you're letting people down can be paralysing, which makes things worse.

Sorry to hear that you lost your job. I hope another door opens for you. And thanks for your efforts. I'm sure there are many others out here rooting for you.

    1. You're right about the feeling of letting people down. I often feel it, as the weeks between releases stretch into months. Thanks for the kind words. Always good to know there are still people waiting patiently.

    2. By the way, I'd never seen those Daicon animations before. Holy moly, that's the strongest shot of pure enthusiasm I've had for months. I'm grateful for the history lesson.

    3. My pleasure. Some people like to call the Daicon shorts, and Gainax forming in their aftermath, "the birth of modern anime", as if they were a kind of "anime big bang". While I think that's overblown given that the shorts themselves are built upon the already-existing anime culture, to me they certainly capture the spirit of freedom and adventure that good anime can offer. (As well as women getting to kick ass and be awesome as the stars of the show, which is also an important quality of good anime for me.)

  3. Ouch that's gotta suck. Not the best of circumstances to be welcoming you back, but thanks for your efforts.

I've just discovered you and I've already read the two volumes. As an old guy who bought both the OVA and the TV seres DVDs as they were released and really enjoyed it, I'm loving to see Akari again. Please, try to continue...

  9. I commented anonymously before. Thought I should use my pseud this time. If it's not a pertinent question, is everything all right? I kinda know how it feels to drop off a horse, mid-stream. If the project's become a millstone, I hope you've found respite elsewhere. If life is grinding you down, I hope things get better.

I appreciate how these are cheap and easy words from a total stranger so don't feel pressured to return or reply if it's grown difficult. Whatever happens, be well.
