Choir! 26, 27, and 28

Happy early Valentine's Day, and as always, sorry for the long wait.

Well, it's a bittersweet moment. These three chapters are the whole reason I wanted to work on Choir! in the first place, and although it took way too long to get here (mainly my fault), here they are at last. It's sad, but fitting, that they be our final Choir! release.

Although it may not be the greatest manga in the world, I've grown quite fond of it over these three years, and its many crazy references taught me a lot of obscure stuff about Japan. I hope you've enjoyed it too. It should be unnecessary to say, but we encourage anyone who wants to continue work on Choir! to please feel free to do so.

As for translation notes, in Chapter 27 Shousei and Mayuko have a go at yobisute, which is the custom of dropping honorifics entirely and referring to someone only by their given name. This is the most intimate form of address in Japanese, and is a very romantic, coupley thing to do. Often though, as in this case, it's tough to make bold changes like that...

Anyway, after this we're hoping to put out some more Kimi no Tame before long. Please look forward to it.

Page 6 of Chapter 22 Missing

Somehow page 6 of chapter 22 got left out of the release. (I guess nobody understood the significance of Kakin Ondo without this...most unfortunate. You may now be enlightened.)

Here is the missing page. The batch download links in the original post below have also been updated. Thanks to an anonymous commenter for the tip-off.

Choir 22, 23, 24, & 25 - The "Love Love Ski Trip" Arc

Here it is, finally. So sorry about the long long wait. As its name implies, this arc is concerned with skiing and yuri romance, not at all in that order. We hope you will enjoy.

A few notes:

On page 3 of chapter 22, "Our Little Con Artist", Mawata is making a strange joke that we couldn't quite figure out. Whether this is supposed to be referencing some obscure character, or is simply a typically Japanese dig at the "sneaky Chinese" stereotype, we just don't know.

Also, for reasons which will become obvious, Kakin Ondo is now the official theme song of Choir.

Anyway, we hope to do better from now on. Chapters 26-28 could be called the "Mayuko/Shousei Home Visit" arc, and are every bit as rewarding as that description makes them sound. In fact, those three chapters are the main reason we even began doing Choir. The rough scripts are already done, so expect them before too long. Thanks again for your patience.

Choir, 19, 20, & 21

Time for more Choir. We apologize for the wait.

As it turns out, the cast of Choir hail from very diverse regional backgrounds, as we learn in great detail in chapter 20...

Also of note, Chapter 21 involves mahjong, which has become almost the official tabletop game of yuri, thanks to a certain other well-known series. I'm grateful to my friend Claire for having pushed me into learning to play. In addition to being enjoyable in its own right, knowing the game greatly simplified the translation of this chapter.

Although we did our best to provide helpful explanatory notes, we offer our apologies if non-players still find themselves confused; the chapter assumes at least a basic knowledge of the game.

As to the aforementioned yuri, it increases dramatically within the next seven chapters, so please look forward to it. We'll be doing our best to bring them to you soon.

Choir, Chapters 15, 16, 17, and 18

We are pleased to bring you chapters 15-18 of Choir.

One thing I enjoy about Choir, and that (to me) sets it apart from being just another "moe" manga, is that the characters are all extremely genre-savvy. They may not know they're manga characters, but they are certainly aware of the clichés that come with living in one.

Chapter 16 is a positive example of this: several of the old negative stereotypes about yuri relationships are directly pointed out, just so that they can be dismissed - both by words directly after, and by action and emotion in many subsequent chapters.

However, Mayuko and Shousei aren't the only ones for whom feelings are strengthening. A new pairing is beginning to emerge as well, though stormy weather is visible in the distance...

We hope you will enjoy.

Choir, Chapters 12, 13, and 14

It is our tremendous pleasure to bring you a triple-chapter release of Choir. Of note, the mysterious Gasuko is finally unmasked in Chapter 13, which leads to a rather drastic rebirth of the character as we knew her...

However, Chapter 14 is what we, and no doubt you yourself, are really here for. Please enjoy, and keep in mind that this is still only the beginning for Shousei and Mayuko. There are many more yuri-laden chapters to come.

Do please let us know if you enjoyed this release. As ever, your appreciation is our greatest reward.

Choir, Chapter 11

At long last, here is more Choir.

We apologize for the wait. We've been neglecting it for some time and have been derelict to do so, because this little manga goes great places in the chapters ahead.

We aren't quite there yet - in fact, there is very little yuri this time - but please enjoy it nevertheless. Comments are, as always, most appreciated.

Choir

Long time no see. Thanks to a kind anon, the raw problem was cleared up, and here's a new chapter.

It is somewhat lacking in yuri, as will the next few chapters, but it makes up for that by...uh...weirdness.

Enjoy~

Choir

If you're wondering where the releases are:
I actually managed to bust my HDD somehow, and lost the internet raws, among other things. Have been trying to find them again after setting up my system again, but without much success.

I apologize.

We'll probably manage to buy (and then scan) the volumes once we manage to scrape the money together if I don't find the raws until then, so please have patience until then.

Thank you.

Choir Chapter 9

And here we go with Choir, Chapter 9.

Again, it's halloween, and various costumed trick-or-treaty hijinks happen. Surprisingly, Mayuko is all fired up - how come?

Well, be prepared for a "Mayuko-repulsing dirty story" as well as the usual, chest-related stuff.
Or maybe no, not really.

Choir, Chapter 8

Time for more Choir! It's summertime for the girls, and that means sleepovers and festivals. But, when doujin work ties up Mawata and Kyouko, will Mayuko and Shousei spend some intimate time alone together?!?!?!??!???!!?!

I'm pleased at how steadily the level of yuri is increasing. Much more is on the way, I assure you! I hope you all enjoy it as well.

Choir, Chapter 7

Chapter 7 of Choir is here!

Mayuko is seduced by the charms of cosplay, a dynamic new character appears, and...Mayuko and Shousei ride the train of love! (In a manner of speaking...)

Please enjoy.

Choir Chapter6

And here we have a new chapter of Choir. This time involving April, and, uhm, those stupid bloomers. No idea why people like those ugly things, but I guess it's a law that 4komas have to cover this angle, too.

I suppose something might need explaining - Shiritori!
Shiritori is a word chaining game. Say, I use the word Chikane.
You then have to take the last sign of the word, in this case Ne, and reply with a word starting with Ne.
For example Neko.
I'd then have to reply with a word starting with Ko, Kowai, for example, and so on. There are a lot of variations to this game, but these are the basics. Page 4 uses Shiritori, and an explaination didn't fit as a note, so it goes here.

Choir, Chapter 5

And here is Chapter 5!

Could it be a Yuri Date!?

This time I had a try at editing every sound effect, how does it look? Criticism is fine, I'm still new at this, after all!

Otherwise, I hope you like the release~

Choir, Chapter 3

And Chapter 3 is complete.

This time, it's the requisite comiket-focussed chapter. Complete with foreign cosplayer invasions, and, naturally, jealousy.

Again I'd like to apologize for the scan quality - those are, once more, from random internet scans.

Choir, Chapter 2

Chapter 2 is complete. You may find it more than a little preoccupied with the Princess-cut. Please enjoy it nevertheless. ^_^;;

Choir, Chapter 1

Hello everyone. This is the first chapter of Choir, a comedic (and quite moe) yuri 4-panel comic. Actually, it isn't all that yuri at the moment, but becomes canonically so later on, so please bear with it.

Localizing comedy, especially of the wordplay kind so often found in anime/manga, is very difficult. Sometimes I had to make hard choices about how to phrase things, and may have occasionally departed from the spirit of the exact Japanese in order to make things work. For anyone familiar with the original who notices such things, please excuse it - and the occasionally cramped text bubbles...nicer raws would've been good, but...

We hope you enjoy.
